Carnegie Hall Recap

“The orchestra shone throughout, but with “The Seven Deadly Sins,” Detroit inherited that show stealer Ms. Large, who is best known for her popsier work with Pink Martini and other bands. She was sensational in a Brecht-Weill experiment of dipping country innocence serially into urban decadence and seeing what comes out. What came out here was personality plus (the tattoo across Ms. Large’s back, for those who couldn’t make it out, read, “Lover”), and her voice came through the subtle miking fetchingly.”

Saw you do this in Portland, and listened on NPR to you at Carnegie Hall. Awesome. When you are onstage, wherever you are, you own the room, even Carnegie Hall. Congratulations.

Heard the entire concert along with the Seven Deadly Sins with our DSO on local radio a couple of weeks back and I must say, bravo. From someone who only a few short weeks ago didn’t even know who you were, I have become a huge fan and have watched your videos on YouTube, including the Kurt Weill “Sins” of which I’d only heard previously in the original German. You not only sang Weill’s little masterwork, you brought it alive with your facial expression, your wonderful smile and your body movements. Ever since I discovered you, I’ve been praising you to everyone I know. Once again, bravo and I hope to perhaps seeing you live in performance one of these days.

Absolutely beautiful! Well done overcoming the pressure and delivering a performance well deserving of “The solo ovation”!

Watching your career blossom for 19 years has been a ride I will take to my grave. In terminal times, your works with Pink Martini bring more comfort than morphine could ever.

“You are and deserve to be very proud as we all are!”

Hope to be well enough to see you back at home soon.

    Godspeed

Here at Edgefield. It’s intermission. Noticed you over at the stage ramp with the fans. Young lady, you are, as usual, a true class act. P.M. chose right in choosing you. Thank you and the crew for the wonderful show!!

What a show last night! Tiny venue, compared to your usual gigs, but you rocked that crowd out of their socks! On behalf of my fellow CASAs, thank you for sharing your magnificent voice in support of children whose voices need to be heard.

I saw the you tube of Pink Martini with Storm Large on the World Fest site .In Grass Valley , California. I wasn’t planning on staying longer than the Friday night gig of Bruce Hornsby. A 4 day event. But seeing the video they showed of Amada Mio , I knew I had to stay the second night when Pink Martini With Storm Large played. I even bought the cd and the band members including Storm Large who wasn’t on that CD signed it. How gracious was that???? I will definitely get the new c.d. Hearing the band and Storm do Que sera sera in the alpine tree Mts of Northern Califonia with a Full Moon coming up through the tree Tops Was very magical, and an experience I will always cherish. ….Bless your hearts….

I saw your show this summer in Aspen , Colorado and have been in love ever since. I am a little bit too old for you (82) but that shouldn’t make any difference! I am looking for some CD of yours. The Pink Martini ones I have seen have the other singer. Which ones are yours! Are you planning on returning to Aspen and will you be playing in Denver at any time? Thanks for the response.
