We’re in Sac just waking up and gearing for some breakfast . We hit SF tonight …old friends , new songs … I’m so happy . I love rolling around in our big, stinky van , talking all kinds of disgusting shit that only bands on the road can come up with . Long drives , under even the best of circumstances , are tedious at best , brutally uncomfortable at the other end . The long hours sitting in a metal box with your friends looking over wide open vistas , mountains , plains , towns and
cities , the brain can get a little warped . So , conversations and topics that go on in the van , very often should and do ” STAY IN THE VAN”. Sometimes it takes me awhile to re acclimate to being around normal folks and the guys will shush me saying …”Dude…we are not IN THE VAN! ” It’s kinda like when you watch alot of porn , when you leave your house it’s kinda shocking that there isn’t a massive orgy everywhere you go ….maybe that’s just me , though …. When on tour , we mostly snack , listen to music , snack , start an awful thread of ill shit , lower the bar to the deepest recesses of politically incorrectness , laugh the snacks out of our mouths , prompting more snacking …then stare at the endless stretch of road until the next snack , shit talk, pee stop .

Then there’s the occasional carnage we bear unfortunate witness to … Brian was taking a shift , driving …roughly 80 MPH and he whacked two small birds with the windshield . Not just any birds… but dainty , bright yellow , happy birds . The kind that may sing sweetly over a newborn day , filling the air with the sparkling sounds of pure hope . How sad that their last utterance on this earth was an artless thud ….then…..silence .

Brian is a killer of beautiful things .

Anyway… more notes from the road later . Drive carefully !

Man , when you are your own label…you have to be on it .

The artwork is nearly done for the record , (God bless Laura Domela for her genius photography and Quenby Moone for being a terrifying creative force with the layout…you’ll see . ) I’ve secured a barcode , registered everything and payed some hefty old bills . We’re leaving Tuesday for our California tour and I’m scrambling to make sure everything’s done before it gets manufactured .
All this STUFF I gotta DO … sometimes I wish shit would just happen all easy like for me . But
then , I suppose , if it was all a piece o cake , it wouldn’t be so interesting .

The official release is June 5th…when Paris goes to jail .

Holy shit ! By the way . SHE’S GONNA DO A WEE BIT O TIME! Alls I gotta say is I have seen that girl in person , and let me tell you , those bars are gonna have to be pretty friggin’ close together to keep her in , wherever she’s going . For those of you who are concerned for her , or upset… I’m pretty sure she’s going to the club med jail … the kind Martha Stewart made crab apple preserves and got ponchos made for her by some other caged heat . She won’t get broom handled or end up as somebody’s bitch … don’t worry .

My God people .

Just because I put on some fake injury I get a wave of B.S. about how offensive it is … how I’m not being sensitive to the abused . Give me a big fat flipping break and PLEASE get over it . I find it
hilarious when I dress up all hottie pants , hair and makeup , sexy costume and what nots … then I throw a little doo dad in there to make it a tad twisted . Me performing with a honking bruise on my face in no way suggests I find child or spousal abuse hot or funny . In my recollection , I’ve never conveyed the image of a battered woman , or someone who finds abuse or violence entertaining or even acceptable . I look like an under paid gutter tramp who got in a dirty brawl over some fried mozzerella sticks ….and I pull it off with flair and pizazz , if I may say so .

Go fight a real fight . There’s A LOT more things out there worthy of your outrage .

Hey guys ! there’s a radio interview up at www.chinradio.com. from our friend Giovanni in Ottowa.
We’re already planning to get back to Ontario , now that the ice has melted off us from the last trip . It looks like I will be playing with the House Band in Toronto for Canada Day … that will be so sick!

Then , as I believe it to be , we hit the road with the Channel One boys again for ten days of riotous
Balls action .

But now , I’m getting my body back in shape for the western tour in May , and our first trip to New Zealand June 8th at the Studio Club .

Waking up in Ottawa this morning to our first day off since Tuesday . I , for one need it …lots of driving and singing and playing …all fun , but a day of rest is for SURE needed today , so I’m in my hotel bed in my underpants , ticking away on my mac . Then it will be a long hot shower a slow hot breakfast , then we’re off to Toronto .

We have had so much fun with Gilby and Channel One ! Last night I sang “Knocking on Heaven’s Door” with Gilby’s band.
My first time on stage with Gilby , it was awesome … made me really miss big guitars and monster drummers . So cool , I hope we do it again …I was too tired after the gig to go party with the Channel One boys , but James went out as I passed out . This morning Jammers said ” I almost called you last night because I thought you might want to see Chris (bass player , CH1) going down the elevator to the lobby , naked , tied to a chair…..” I’ve been laughing all morning
with that image in my head . Along with so many crazy things that have gone down on the road … one of which is James signing an autograph on a certain part of a mans anatomy… I promised not to tell …but I’m sure it’ll pop up in a picture . Stay tuned for THAT .

We play Toronto tomorrow , then North Bay , then we head home to Portland . YAY!!! We’ve had a blast in Ontario , even though it’s been FREEZING . But it’s still been awesome . Thank you , Canada!

This Just in ….NEW ZEALAND IS A GO , BABY!!! We will be at Studio , in Aukland on Friday , June 8th , tickets on sale through ticketek.co.nz … we may not make it to OZ on this trip , so YOU come see us while we’re close . We are stoked for the trip , and look forward to rocking all the gorgeous kiwis accross the International Dateline .

We are on our way to the big Canadian “Tip-Toe Through The Rock Tour” .

This trip , it’s just me and James , all quiet like , sandwiched between Channel One , a massive , yet melodic , rock band from Ottowa and Mr Gilby Clarke … and I’m sure Gilby will have some heavy pounding riff rock going on …

I feel funny playing without all my Balls , but we’ll kill it the very best we can , regardless .Fear not , our brothers and sisters to the North …. your Balls will come , and come hard when the time comes to come hard .

In the meantime , I’ll update you all on how it’s going up there in the lovely Ontario Province .

Our first show of the tour was at the loverly and always homey Sweet Water in Mill Valley . The joint was packed to the rafters with old and new fans . It was a blast … some vodka was consumed and there was much music and merriment . Now , we are enjoying our first day off with no driving so we’re cooking up a feast for ourselves and our friends’ family . Ah ! We love our California people ! Tomorrow we’re off to Modesto and the Fat Cat …. I’ll fill you in on all that later .

I see everyone’s got the Canada dates now … we’re SO EXCITED ! Remember , it’s a stripped down version of the Balls … just me and James … sandwiched between big loud rock bands . However , we are planning to bring all of our Ball-y goodness all the way across Canada this Summer … stay tuned.

Gotta go grill asparagus….I know I know … SO rock n roll ….
